Luxury living

My residence in Dallas feels like a jewel box in the sky with an amazing view of the ever-growing city but when temperatures rise, I get itchy to travel!  My home away from home is NYC, and I'm always digging on staying at The Viceroy Hotel! It is so centrally located at W 57th Street just blocks from some of my favorite stores on Fifth Avenue like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Bergdorf Goodman! My recommendation with the hotel is to request a park view or better yet a room with its on terrace! So good! They are pet friendly which is a plus and the roof top bar is always a scene for those who like to linger into the wee hours! The rooms are small (as are most in NY) but well appointed with ways that maximize storage; however, the bathrooms are spacious with marble from wall to wall! Next time you're in the city, check them out! You will thank me!

Super chic stay

A Quickie in Arkansas

I haven't written in a while, but we've had a lot of stuff come up lately, and with that being said, I decided we needed a personal trip out of town! So we packed up in a rental (Hyundai in teal) and headed for Arkansas! This time it wasn't to visit family; it was to tour Bentonville and all the happenings of this hip little town! We stayed at 21c Museum Hotel which had an amazing art collection and a stellar bar & restaurant called "the Hive" where they served farm-to-table delectables and for desert they had a tower of sour apple cotton candy! YUM! The city was super quaint and even though it's the home of Walmart, there are several great things to see with the best being the Crystal Bridges Museum! I can't even describe how fantastic it is - very organic and modern in style even with a delicious restaurant that serves chicken and walffles and homemade grits for brunch! My favorite art piece is the Dolly by Andy Warhol which made the trip worth the 6 hour drive!

Mulberry in Motion

I just packed up my ponchos and stored all my furs because it was time to flip over the closest to spring! So the week I got to celebrate several birthdays and attend multiple cocktail parties while sporting one of my favorite labels Mulberry! Not to be mistaken for Burberry although both are from London and both are terribly chic most people aren't as familiar with designer Johnny Coca (formally w/ Celine) and this amazing line! They have done such collaborations with Alexa Chung and Cara Delevingne which has definitely made a lasting mark on fashion and retailing in general! I'm wearing a striped leather and pony hair coat by Mulberry paired with leather acne shorts, Roger Vivier rhinestone kickers, and a signature sparkled top by Markus Lupfur!

New take on Lanvin

The fashion world was shocked to hear the Albert Elbaz was stepping down from his successful run at Lanvin and Bouchar Jarrar was taking over! It was a much anticipated show during Fall 16 Paris fashion week so all the BIG hitters were sitting front row! I found it to be a strong collection filled with elements from classic Lanvin but spiced up with an eighties edge. Furs and ruffles seemed to be a carry over from earlier collections but even they seemed fresh and young! I can't wait to see how she grows with the line that already seemed tres chic!

Parisian Pink

During Paris fashion week the runways for a/w 16 were filled with excitement and shockingly trending with shades of pink! Haider Ackermann had an edgy take on the color in crush velvet jackets and tops and leggings in patterns and prints that felt like they where plucked straight from the eighties!  I'm kinda dying over it all! Junya Watanabe used the shade magenta in the oversized origami jackets and shrugs! Comme des Garçons also took the statement "Go Big Or Go Home" and brought it to life with baby doll pink patent leather capelets with Ruffles, Ruffles, and more Ruffles!  So beyond amazing as each piece is like art, I can't wait to see the capsule collection at Dover Street Market!

The women of Couture

The Schiaparelli haute couture show had an inspiration taken from a grand dinner party! The dresses had tons of movement each in their own way and also were embroidered with tea cups and tea pots plus vegetables and a great bib covered in a jeweled lobster! Such fun because the back drop even had white plates lined up and then the floor had a great pattern that played well with all of them. The other party was at the Jean Paul Gaultier show with a theme from the Palace Club in the late nineteen hundreds! The girls were clad in sequin robes with strong shoulders from great beaded dresses that proved each of these girls could hold court in the the iconic night club!

Never Worn Out of Fashion

Safe to say the Thom Browne men's show in Paris was an exciting and extravagant event.  We arrived on the outskirts of Paris to find ourselves at a very large, evacuated arena.  Warned by the driver that we were in a "sketchy" neighborhood, we began to feel a little uneasy and unsure of exactly what was coming.  But once the lights inside went down and the music began, our spirits lifted.  It was the best men's show that we saw.  The collection (full of grey as expected) was also full of plaid, checks, and fur.  Each outfit was shown in threes - a worn out version complete with rips, threads, and holes; an in between version that was showing signs of wear and tear; and a pristine version that practically glistened with precision.  The interesting thing about them though is that the most  ragged looks were as emaculately tailored and just as easily wearable for the guy who likes a more "lived in" look.  David was blown away and completely beside himself by the entire spectacle.  It was a night to remember, and we safely made it out and back to our part of town to dream about for the rest of the trip.  Cheers to Mr. Browne for another beautiful visual (and wearable) season.

Paris Men

Well, Paris was a huge success - the hotel La Maison Champs Elysees (Margiela styled) was well appionted and the suite was way more than just roomy! One of our favorite men's shows was Wooyoungmi - so good and each outfit that came down the runway spoke to David, and he was sold! Slick and modern with pops of color! Boris Bidjan Saberi showed at the Palais de Tokyo, and the invite was stamped on a thick piece of cream leather.  The clothes were uber modern and like a space age warrior! Great fanny packs!! Loved it all! Songzio was a great surprise with shades of crimson and teal paired with matching hoodies - great touch!! God I love fashion and Paris!

Food & Fashion

While in Milan we had two other shows that were pretty spectacular - Marcelo Burlon and  Ermanno Scervino.  Marcelo was street style walking the runway with a heavy native influcence that gave it a great twist from other shows we saw.  The Scervino show was the man I always wanted - a little fur and a little sequin but always stylish! The food on this trip took center stage from the Wes Anderson designed coffee shop (Bar Luce) at the Prada foundation to the lively dj spinning Ricci that had an amazing play list and a great veggie burger! The Dsquared boys whom I adore have a mid-century gem  Ceserio 7 that is on top of their headquarters.  The last to were  Dondup restaurant on top of a cute boutique literally in the attic and David's favorite (aesthetically) Carlo e Camilla which was an old feed house turned industrial space with one long table for communal eating - cozy for those cool winter nights.

Milan Rocks

There was definitely several men's shows in Milan during fashion week that had a rock & roll edge to them like Diesel Black Gold and Dirk Bikkembergs. Diesel was the first show of the morning but it didn't stop the audience from being super jazzed about this urban collection! It was filled with slim lines on pants and on the jackets paired with arm bags and backpacks! I loved seeing some of the fur pieces and spotting Anna Dello Russo sitting front row! Dirk's show also was a tale on the urban man but this one had motorcycles lining the runway and high energy sexy music to complement the leather clad men coming down the runway! He also showed fur but black leather on pants, jackets, and vests was the emphasis! Both collections peaked my interest and made me appreciate a masculine, confident man plus I came away with a bit of a strut down the streets of Milan after they were over!

Well Suited

Suits were a big hit in Milan from men's fashion week in a BIG way. One of my favorite shows was Canali with rich fabrics in cashmere, wool, and pony hair which had me wanting more! The suits were perfectly tailored with shades of teal and marigold, accented by delicious sweaters and elbow length gloves.  A suit show-stopper was the Helen Anthony collection next to the Duomo Cathedral. The pieces were Savile Row meets  1940s military. Tons on tons of plaids and every shade with matching hatboxes and weekenders. Lots of fun, more to come!

The Two D's

While in Milan, I had the privilege of attending two of my favorite designers collections that start with the letter D, but their styles couldn't be more different! Damir Doma was the first with a train station setting for his presentation. The clothes were oversized, raw, and had a beautiful unfinished quality, but still had an edge. The other D was Dan & Dean from Dsquared2 who were as sexy as usual (not just the boys), but this time they had a strong Asian inspiration throughout, but also had that rock&roll theme that we love from them. More to come on Milan Men's Fashion!

Burberry the true Brit

Well, I can make every show, but  I'm always excited to see what the Prorsum line for Burberry will show! They didn't disappoint showing their staple trench this time in a military way.  Also each piece had elements of athletic wear from full track suits in red, and black sequins. They keep a tradition of the plaid in coats and a new fresh messenger bag! Plus the show was filled with piano playing and singing by Benjamin Clementine.  Order now on www.Burberry.com to have some of the pieces personalized with your own monagram - love them all!

London Kicks Off

Graphic athleticism hit the runway at KTZ with the sport inspired pieces in the boldest stripes and brightest colors. Moschino showed us tough and macho in worn denim and satin bombers but still had the usual playful edge.  I'd say with London fashion week, we're off to a good start.  Can't wait to see all the latest from the upcoming cities.

Men's Survival Kit Milan Fashion Week

Well it's less than two weeks till Men's Fashion Week in Milan, and at this point I can't wait! I'm as giddy as a little girl on the first day of school.  One has to pack his survival kit which are those pieces of fashion that are of the moment and still have a bit of function! First, you must have a good watch, and I've chosen a sporty chronograph and rubber Cartier; plus it will keep you on time for all your showroom appointments. Then there's a statement making bag (Louis Vuitton) that is practical to hold all your invites to the shows.  A bag accessory (Fendi little monster) adds a bit of fluff to any man bag!  For warmth, the ideal scarf is a must that you wear different ways, and my choice is Thom Browne. The shoe selection is very important so go with Prada sneakers that have some personality! Finally bottles and bottles of Champagne are a must morning, noon, and night - always a party! Good Luck!!

Paris Haute Couture

I'm  looking so forward to my trip to Milan & Paris  for Men's and staying longer for Ladies' Couture. If you haven't watched or at least read about the industry of haute couture it is the grandest of all collections. The details are exquisite with everything being hand made from each specialized stitch to each hand sewn bead and bauble. It's the highest of all fashion with a handful of houses still in existence. I'm looking forward to some of the greatest from Chanel to Dior to Valentino to Valli.  It will be one of the finest weeks in fashion.

New Year New Outfit

Hey you guys it's about to turn the clock on another year and Lord knows I'm ready! I'm not much about noise makers, confetti, and ball dropping! I'm getting so old that I'm more worried about everything else dropping!  So how I'm celebrating is a little retail therapy with a new outfit from Neiman Marcus! I knew when I spotted this Dries Van Noten silk watercolored pants and sweatshirt adorned with sequins and paillettes that it was a closet must and that it needed to be topped off with a gold trench coat with faux fur trimmed collar also Dries because when you slap a sale sticker on it, it's all even better!  I plan on taking this number with me to Paris and Milan in two weeks for the collections, but I might just have to do a preview wear of it tonight!  Happy New Year everyone!

10 Corsa Como here I Come

I am so excited after visiting family in Arkansas and taking planes, trains, and automobiles to head back on another trip this time to Milan!  I'm bringing one of my favorite clients to attend the men's collections in Milan then off to Paris! He's got some of his go to designers that are a must see walk the runway, but in our down time between showroom appointments we are definitely headed to one of my lusty concept stores 10 Corsa Como!  It is beyond amazing and an experience every single time!  From Moschino installations to Comme des Garçon  explorations!  Don't forget to go to the second level to the home store that has coffee table books on crack! (for real) it is the best ever!

Day & Night

For spring 16 Dolce & Gabbana was in big on the Chinoisserie and how - from bright suits in an Asian print in vivid colors. The fabrics were in satin and cotton but with fine shine! Even some of the casual pieces still had ethnic and religious elements represented! Kinda love each of them! Damir Doma was the opposite and so different with super easy with men in skirts with great details! Linen was a great choice of fabric especially in my favor pink outfit. Nailed it with this one! I thought the lightweight knits were a special treat!  The flow of the garments really came through on this collection! While in Milan, it's a must to stop in showrooms of these two designers!

Pre-Fall Frenzy

We are excited about heading to Milan and Paris for shows this season; I can't even tell you how much!  I'm bringing a guy (client) that has great taste in fashion for Milan and Paris s/s 16 collections and a shopping spree! Then I'm meeting a client for some couture shopping!  But having looked at pre-fall Fendi, I fell into the floor!  It is so my thing with all the stacked fur platforms, the fur coat, the patterns in a retro print, not to mention the silhouettes and colors are spot on for me...oh and did I mention fur!!!  I may need to stop by the showroom for a sneak peak before the Fendi men's collection!
